Orange-Bellied Flowerpecker

Dicaeum trigonostigma --- 8cm

This little bird was spotted at my house's backyard. The orange color belly was very eye catching from far... It was after the ripe berries as photo in the picture.
I was actually very happy to see this little bird. This is the commonest flowerpecker of coastal and secondary forest, throughout Borneo from the lowlands to the hills.

Canon EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM lens

1/800 F9.0 ISO 400

Bought a new Canon f5.6L IS lens on 25AUG10. This is the latest super telephoto lens I owned in my lens profile....Can't wait to try it out.....I took it out with my Canon 5D Mark II for a test at Sembulan and this nice Great Egret standing at a branch near the beach next to Sutera Resort.
This lens allowed me to get this close to the subject and the details of the bird is super...SHARP....with a nice background blur...

This photo was taken from my car at driver's sit....don't even need to get out of the car...

There is a lot for me to learn and practice in order make full use of this lens...It's down side is that it weights 4.5kg...difficult to shoot on hand held...

Later in the afternoon, I took this shoot at my garden. The YELLOW-VENTED BULBUL (Pycnonotus goiavier, 17.5cm), commonest bulbul in town gardens and cultivated area throughout Borneo. Notice the insect in its mouth. It feeds on grassy lawns, attacking ripe fruit (my mango fruit was always eaten by them from the tree) and chasing insects in flight.
The photo is crop to show a details of the insect in its mouth. following is another photo before crop.
